Former NZ Poet Laureate Selina Tusitala Marsh shares the stage with two of Aoteaora’s most extraordinary young poets – Ruby Solly and Tayi Tibble – as they perform poems from their latest collections.
Prepare to be impressed: Pasifika poet Selina Tusitala Marsh ONZM has performed in front of Queen Elizabeth but she meets her equals in Ruby Solly (Kāi Tahu, Waitaha, Kāti Māmoe) and Tayi Tibble (Te Whānau ā Apanui/Ngāti Porou), both in their mid-20s.
Selina Tusitala Marsh will be performing poems from her last two collections, Tightropeand Dark Sparring, as well as some new works in progress.
Ruby Solly will be sharing poems from her debut collection, Tōku Pāpā. These poems look at how we take the knowledge we are given by our ancestors, encompassing a journey spanning generations.
Tayi Tibble will be sharing poems from Rangikura, her fiery second collection. These poems live in the space between the end of the world and a new day and ask us to think about our relationship to desire and exploitation.
