10am – 10.15am – Welcome from Marama Shearer

10.15am – 12.30pm Inspirational hands on workshop with Karolina Stus – Expressive Photographer of the year 2020

These days as photographers we put a lot of pressure on ourselves chasing after new techniques and the latest equipment. We put ourselves in a box and we forget what our message is.
We train to be better in Photoshop but we don’t search in finding our own style. We are too busy to let ourselves just enjoy and play within our craft. I had a deep need to allow myself time to explore and just create from my heart.

And I did…

I hand painted my prints. I’ve tried cyanotype and wet plate techniques. I put stitches over my prints, I used all sorts of papers to print my photos on. I made my own papers, dyed them, teared them, glued them, burned them and everything that came to mind. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not but now I know what is possible if I allow myself to try.

I have learned heaps and now I can share that with you if you wish.

Do you have a need to create something close to your heart without putting any restrictions or boundaries on yourself ? Are you tired of running after perfection? If you want to use your hands as much as you can and move away from a screen and Photoshop. If you want to just let go, to explore, experiment and not worry about any boundaries. If you want to try techniques you had never had the time to try. Then this workshop will be just perfect for you.

Time with me will be all about doing everything that you normally would not do with your prints – tear, paint on, glue, burn stitch, wax, cook and anything else that will come to your mind. Please bring different types of your prints, old ones and those you would like to experiment with – different types of photo papers would be great from luster to fine art papers. Also different types of papers, fabric and things you would like to corporate into your image. Scissors, glue, paints, brushes – take some crafty things with you to have some fun. I’ll also bring my Polaroid camera and we can try some Polaroid lifts. Maybe if the weather is sunny enough cyanotype photography will be possible. Let’s have some fun with photography using our hands instead of the computer screen.

He’s fresh off delivering a 10-week digital marketing programme with James Day, and wants to bring some of that inspiration and genius to The Summit. Marketing is so much more than great photos, and this will give you a crash course on how to stand out and generate more enquiries (plus a little bit of productivity, strategy, and mindset sprinkled in there!)
