Wallace Shield 5km Cross Country Series Race 1

Wallace Shield - race 1.
A fun three-event series of 5km cross country for runners and walkers (3.4km).
Juniors can choose 1 lap (1.7km), 2 laps (3.4km) or 3 laps (5km).
Everyone and all abilities welcome.

First event: Rabbit Island 15th May 2021.
Meet at the Old Domain - Beach for 2 pm registration and briefing.
This first event is "guess your time" - run without watches & phones.

Give your estimate for running 1.7km, 3.4km or 5km or walking 3.4km at registration.
The winner is the person closest to their estimated time.
Everyone starts together at 2:30 pm.

Second event: Rabbit Island 22nd May 2021.
Meet at the Totara Picnic Area for 2 pm for registration and briefing.

This event is a standard race with runners (5km), Juniors (1.7km, 3.4km or 5km) and walkers (3.4km) starting together at 2:30 pm.
The winner is first across the finish line.

The final event: Rabbit Island 29th May 2021.
Meet at the Old Domain - Beach for 2 pm registration and briefing.

This event is a handicap based on times from the previous race (or estimated on the day).
The slowest competitors start first at 2:30 pm with the next competitors going at intervals until finally the fastest competitor starts and tries their best to catch up!

The winner is first across the line.

Points are awarded at each event and members of Waimea Harriers compete for the coveted Wallace Shield.
