Travelling with Dogs
The Wellington Cable Car will conduct a trial allowing Dogs to travel on the Cable Car for the month of November.
So long as they;
Dogs must be calm, trained and well socialised with humans and other dogs;
A dog that engages in behaviour such as not responding to commands, scratching, excessive barking, whining, growling, biting, jumping on passengers or staff members, relieving themselves in the Cable Car may be denied entrance;
All dogs must be on a leash or in a suitable carrier at all times whilst travelling on the Cable Car, or at any terminal or intermediate stations, and if you continue through the Botanical Gardens or Lambton Quay;
Owners will be responsible for cleaning up any mess created by their dogs travelling on the Cable Car or at any terminal or intermediate stations. This may also include the need to remove waste and disinfect surfaces;
If you are travelling with a pet dog and see a disability assist dog board the Cable Car, please ensure your Dog does not distract the team;
Dogs will only be allowed to travel during off-peak hours:
- Weekdays 9.00am to 3.00pm & After 6.30pm to close
- All-day weekends and Public Holidays
- WCCL reserves to change travel times at any time
You may be asked to wait for the next Cable Car if the Cable Car is crowded or if there are already other dogs waiting to travel;
During the trial, in lieu of a Dog ticket, a $2 donation will be charged, which will be donated to the SPCA less any fees and taxes;
A limit of one dog per passenger and anyone handling a Dog must be over 16 years of age;
Dogs must remain in the lowest Cable Car entry/exit landing, or the area by the lowest drivers cab when in the Cable Car;
The trial may be suspended at any time and without notice.
