This race is one of the popular Wellington Masters Cycling Club (WMCC) busy calendar, and is open to any rider who wants to give it a go.
Starting from BrewTown, competitors will start from BrewTown Upper Hutt and complete 2 laps (26km) or 3 laps (39km) of the Wallaceville-Mangaroa Circuit.
It is a handicap road race event, which means riders are put together in groups based on their riding speed. The groups are then assigned a handicap with the aim that all the riders will be reaching the finish at approximately the same time, and therefore every rider has a chance of being the first to cross the finish line. It's a friendly and supportive format, and there will be groups for all riding speeds, come give it a try!
It is also event 6 of the WMCC Women's Series, supported by MyRide. This series is all about getting more women riding & racing together and is made up of eight events between August 2020 and March 2021 for women in the Wellington region who like riding their bikes and want to get fitter, have fun and gain confidence riding on the road in a group.
