Join Dunedin City Council, City Sanctuary, Department of Conservation and Botanic Garden for activities in and around the DCC Pop-Up Container located in the Dunedin Botanic Upper Garden.
Events are as follows:

DCC Tree Giveaway
12pm-3pm
Come and pick up a Free Tree as a gift from Dunedin City Council to help rewild your garden.
At the same time pick up the DCC Planting Guide to find out which native trees are best suited for your garden with a planting web map.

The DCC’s Native Planting Guide and web map were created to help inform small scale native planting projects in Dunedin city. The web map provides ecologically appropriate plant species lists for different parts of the city. The information is sourced from expert reports specifically for Dunedin and staff will be handing these out with trees.

City Sanctuary - Trapping Workshops

Trapping Workshop 1: 12.30 pm–2 pm
Trapping Workshop 2: 3 pm–5 pm

Come along to our drop-in predator trapping workshops in the DCC Pop-Up Container in the Upper Botanic Garden.

Learn how to detect pests and use best practice humane kill traps. As a delivery partner for Predator Free Dunedin, our aim is to enhance Dunedin City by removing introduced mammalian predators so our native biodiversity can flourish once again.

Our methods and techniques focus on the health and safety aspects of predator control whilst being humane and effective.

These workshops are designed for adults.

DOC Toyota Kiwi Guardian Activities
While the adults are learning how to use traps, children can become a backyard pest detective and identify native birds to earn Toyota Kiwi Guardian medals!

Off The Beaten Track Guided Walks
Get Off the Beaten Track and go bush for an hour at the Botanic Garden with staff.
Walk 1: 1.30pm-2.30pm
Walk 2: 3.30pm-4.30pm

Meeting point for walk is in the Upper Botanic Garden carpark – adjacent entrance to Rhododendron Dell.

All 'Rewild at the Botanic' events are free.
