15 years and still going...

Willie McArthur has been around the Christchurch music scene since 1994, When he Married a Kiwi lass and emigrated from Scotland. During a 4 year trip to Scotland in 2002, Willie, when not gigging, would visit local Open mics in Paisley and Glasgow. When he returned, an opportunity arose to start an open mic in Christchurch in 2006 and Willie's Open Mic was born.

Through the years there have been different venues...

O' Carrol's
The Bard On Avon
Tthe Vespa Room
His Lordships
The Venue
Pegasus Arms
Mickey Finn's
Sullivan's Irish Pub

There was also showcases and special events, and we have seen such amazing talent through the years. Bands formed, albums recorded, some performers becoming accomplished full-time musicians, in Christchurch and beyond.

Please, if you have been part of Willies Open Mic through the years, come along, share your stories, meet up with old friends and share the stage.

We kick off at 6:30 pm, with open mic starting at about 7.

There will be a screen showing photos through the years, so if you have any pics you can include, or you have any queries, send them to
