Although Health and Safety representatives receive training in order to fulfill their duties, as a manager it can be difficult to understand what legal powers a Health and Safety Representative is afforded under the law. This course is designed to help leadership teams not only understand their obligations but also assists in facilitating deeper discussions with H&S Reps to increase the efficiency of both parties. Our trainer will help streamline processes between hazard identification and action so your team can get back to work.

We believe that the best outcome is when those tasked with the safety of their workmates and management staff who can action important decisions are on the same page, working towards the greater good of the company and it's employees.

Your Learning Outcomes:

This module is designed to simplify risk assessment processes to practical steps that can be applied by any member of your organisation, regardless of level.

Workers who go to H&S rep training often come back complaining that their manager “stymies” their efforts to be safe and advocate for H&S. This course is aimed at those managers and tells them why they no longer have a choice about H&S. H&S legally must rank on par with productivity and quality issues.

At the end of the course the people managers will be able to talk and walk the same talk and walk that their H&S reps do – this should result in better cohesion and efficiency. In particular they will understand the legal role of a H&S rep and the legal functions and powers that a H&S rep has under law.

People managers will learn to recognise that risk needs to be managed on a daily basis and that high frequency/likelihood/harm risks need to be attended to before there are possible financial consequences.

People managers will be exposed to the same soft skills we teach H&S reps e.g. problem-solving skills and assertion skills and negotiation skills to help in H&S issue resolution.

Course bundle:
This course is best attended in partnership with the H&S Essentials for People Managers training module. As such, this course is scheduled in the afternoon with H&S Essentials for People Managers course in the morning of the same day, in the same geographical location. It is possible to separate these across multiple days if you are under a time constraint.

Includes workbook, arrival tea or coffee and Afternoon tea.
