MidwinterCarnival

This year’s new format Carnival is set to be held across two nights, this July 8 and 9, with new hours from 6pm - 10pm on Friday and extended hours 6pm - 11pm Saturday to coincide with the All Blacks vs Ireland test.

Wander up Moray place and visit your favourite food trucks before stepping through the magical tunnel into the winter wonderland of the Carnival Village. The grounds of First Church will play host to the Carnival Village, boasting two stages showcasing local live music, dance and cultural performances, as well as multiple lantern installations around the site allowing for an up-close experience like never before. While roving performers manoeuvre through the crowds and installations, look up to catch a glimpse of Brophy Aerials high amongst the trees, see the return of last year's popular projections radiating from First Church itself and watch as multiple mini lantern processions wind through the site.

Entry to the Carnival Village will be $5 per person with children under three, and those in the lantern processions free. Tickets are available now via Carnival website and will be sold for 6pm, 7pm and 8pm sessions to spread the audience and ensure a positive and safe experience. Limited gate sales will be available at the entrance each night.

We are pleased to be including a pay-it-forward option, this allows those who can to pre-purchase tickets which will then distributed to partner agencies to disperse to families they engage with; New Zealand Red Cross, Te Hou Ora Whānau Services, Pacific Trust Otago, Anglican Family Care, and Presbyterian Support Otago. Pay-it-forward will be available from now, via the Carnival website, until June 30.

To purchase tickets, pay-it-forward, get information on the event, workshops and volunteering please visit our website.
