Sylvia took second prize at Kerikeri International Piano Competition 2014 before taking up scholarship at the prestigious Juilliard School of Music in New York. In 2017 she was invited back to Kerikeri to give a stunning recital at the annual KIPC Friends evening.

Her programme for this concert, the final chapter in the Kerikeri piano competition story, will be a wonderful finale:
Haydn - Sonata in B Minor No. 47 HOB.XVI/32
Prokofiev - Sonata No.
Chopin - Four Impromptus
Liszt-Gounod - Faust Waltz

Sylvia is currently the sole instrumental recipient of the prestigious Artist Diploma Award from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. Hailed by critics as a ‘gifted young pianist of genuine substance’, Sylvia’s performances have been featured on BBC News, TV3, ABC Australia, Radio New Zealand Concert and Maori Television.

Sylvia has performed with the Royal Philharmonic, Queensland Symphony, Music Academy of the West, Juilliard Chamber Orchestra and St Matthew’s Chamber Orchestras. She has given solo recitals in New Zealand, Great Britain, Australia, Indonesia, South Korea and the United States. Sylvia is particularly interested in multi-disciplinary collaborative work and currently serves as the Artistic Director of a non-profit organization Muffin Music. She was invited to be a featured soloist in The Kennedy Center’s Ballet Across America with Dance Theatre of Harlem and Miami City Ballet.
