Are you feeling left behind with computers? Are you lacking confidence dealing with email? Do you struggle with filing your photos and documents on your computer in a coherent way? Not sure about Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel? Do you want to build your confidence with simple computer tasks at home. Would you like to start building your computer literacy for the job market?

Our kind and patient computing teacher Kathy will teach you the absolute basics and get you feeling confident about turning on the computer and completing simple tasks. This will provide a good foundation for starting computer learning if you wish to continue and learn how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint or Publisher to a higher level.

Who should attend?
Those with little or no ability using a personal computer for simple tasks such as email, file management, writing letters, creating simple spreadsheets to capture numerical data and perform simple calculations. Those wanting to gain basic computing skills to enhance their employability. Please note this course is taught in a Personal Computer suite at Selwyn College. We do not offer MacBook (Apple) training on this course.

NOTE: This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizen and permanent migrant adults (and sometimes their partners), and young citizens and residents aged 16+ who are not currently enrolled in a NZ secondary school. We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes. You must also provide evidence of NZ citizenship or residency if requested. A condition of accepting this course fee subsidy is that you will attend at least 80% of classes.

Testimonial March 2020:

"...impressed with Kathy - she's the best computer tutor I've had in a long time coming to Selwyn." - GK
