Ever wondered how the buzzing communities of bees work? Or how hexagonal honey comb is created?

Join us in the beeautiful hills of Island Bay for a sweet day of honey and learning. Our beekeepers are here to teach you about bee anatomy, hive building, pollination and more! Come visit the colony of bees we have nestled in our garden here at Our Lady’s Home of Compassion, and taste some of our famous Pōhutukawa honey – and maybe even grab some to take home!

This event is part of Bee Aware Month, in conjunction with Apiculture NZ and the Wellington City Council which aims to get all Kiwis taking action to support and protect bees.

As the global population of bees declines, it’s vital we teach the next generations to become champions for our buzzy friends, and it all starts with education.
