Teepee firings are when you wrap your pots in a variety of materials such as seaweed and horse hair, then place them on sawdust in a shallow pit. Branches are stacked over the pots to create a Tepee which is then wrapped with slip soaked cloth. Once constructed the Teepee is set alight!
We are offering 2 handbuilding workshops where you will make and burnish your pots for the Teepee kiln. (Burnishing is a technique where you rub the pot to create a high sheen).
*If you are an experiences thrower you are welcome to make your pots on the wheel during the building workshop.
Workshop dates:
Saturday 9th July 10-2pm with 1 hour break from 12-1 (the break gives time for your creations to dry prior to burnishing) or Sunday 10th July 10-2pm with 1 hour break from 12-1pm.
Firing:
The Teepee firing is booked in for August 7th (weather dependant).
9- 4pm approx
