Central Districts Poultry and Pigeon Club, Meet-up, Sale and Beginners Showing Tips Talk

LOCATION In our usual spot at Levin Showgrounds, over by the poultry sheds.

TO FIND US -if you enter via Victoria st gate, bear right, follow the road past the side of the larger event buildings, keeping the horse oval on your right and you will see a large tree at the end of the sheds, and some parking we will be in those end sheds.

Non-members welcome.

Those selling birds can enter for free and only pay a Club Fundraising % if they sell (see Birds for Sale page for more info and the current catalogue.)

TIMETABLE. Starting at 10.30am, we plan on pausing the Sale at around 11.45am for the talk, but there will be a chance to buy any remaining birds afterwards, before we wrap up. Official Club meeting will then commence at 1pm for those members staying on.

Bird Sales are CASH ONLY.

TALK – Free Entry.

Suggest you bring a camping chair for the talk if you need one and your own refreshments. It is likely to last about 30 mins in the Poultry Shed area (which is outside but partially under cover). The format will be an informal chat, possibly a short demo and Q+ A. Nothing too heavy but might be useful for those thinking about getting into showing. Let us know if you are planning on attending the talk please so we have a rough idea of numbers.

SELLERS - Please let Sofianna know if you are planning on coming and if you are bringing birds to sell? email members.cdppc@outlook.com or text / call - 021 103 0105 (email preferred). NOTE for sellers: 20% of event sales to go to the Club (10% if sold online/remotely), so please take this into account when pricing. This goes towards fundraising for the show, and new equipment.

Cash only at the event, all bird sales via our sales desk. Any birds not sold must be removed by pack up time.

MEETING (President’s Room, nearby) If you are staying for the meeting at 1pm, please let me know so we can plan distanced seating. We will have some hot drinks available but please bring your own food if required (we will go back to shared platters at meetings once the threat of Covid hopefully passes)

COVID – we will take precautions according to the situation and government advice. Restrictions have eased (vaccine passes no longer required) but please take our more vulnerable members and guests into consideration. Masks encouraged. Keep an eye on this page for any changes.

BAD WEATHER or other CANCELLATION reason - in the unlikely event we need to cancel, we will update the website and our Facebook page so check before you head over.
