CHURCH ROAD’S ‘THE FEAST OF FIVE’
A wine and food experience that challenges what you know about flavour.
Discover how colour, shape, sound and texture can alter your experience of flavour, with an evening of wine and gourmet food that you’ll never forget – Church Road’s The Feast of Five - five senses, five courses, five ways to re-discover wine. The event series has been created by the multi-award-winning New Zealand winery in collaboration with multisensory explorer, Dr Jo Burzynska, who will showcase how, by stimulating your senses in different ways, you can draw out more from one delicious glass of wine than ever before.
Church Road’s The Feast of Five will take place in Auckland, Wellington and Queenstown across July and August. For one night only, guests will be hosted at one of their city’s best restaurants and will enjoy a five-course degustation menu which has been carefully designed by New Zealand’s most acclaimed chefs. Each course will demonstrate the power of the senses through individual experiences and compliment the wine that has been carefully selected by Church Road Chief Winemaker, Chris Scott, four times Winestate Winemaker of the Year. Chief Winemaker Scott, together with Dr Burzynska, will work their magic to leave guests mesmerised by the impact of colour, shape, sound and texture on the character, taste, and aroma of wine.
Dr Burzynska is a well-known New Zealand artist, wine writer, researcher and curator who merges her passion for these fields to create multi-sensory art and design immersive spaces, including the world’s first ‘wine and sound’ bar as part of a previous project. She recently completed an interdisciplinary PhD that explored the influence of sound and music on the perception of wine aroma and flavour across the fields of art, sensory science, and psychology. Church Road’s The Feast of Five will offer you the opportunity to soak in her unique knowledge about food, wine and the senses, for yourself.
The events are being held as part of Church Road’s celebration of 125 years of winemaking excellence on the site where Church Road stands today. 125 incredible years of capturing the riches of the Hawke’s Bay region, to create its award-winning portfolio of wines, the best of which will of course be centre stage at each event.
