Clean and Care: Green Cleaning

Join eco-lifestylist Stella Carruthers to learn about cleaning the green way. Develop an awareness of why people are avoiding chemical cleaners in their homes and explore alternatives to commercial products. Have fun making a few basic cleaning products from simple kitchen ingredients.

Act on the awareness that there is a different way to clean and care for our homes. Eco-lifestylist Stella Carruthers will teach you how to clean with no chemicals the green way. Become aware of the dangers of “greenwashing” and how to identify commercial products that are safe for both people and planet. Feel empowered by knowing exactly what is in your cleaning products by learning how to make your own from simple kitchen ingredients. Discover that cleaning green not only saves you money. It can also support sustainable action that starts right in your home.

Please bring pen and paper for note taking (notes will be provided). You'll also need to bring 2 small bottles and 1 container to take away samples of products made.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
- Develop an awareness of chemicals entering the home through commercial cleaning products
- Be conscious of advertising messages when it comes to commercial cleaners and how this can
impact purchasing choices.
- Understand the term ‘greenwashing’ and how it applies to cleaning products.
- List the basic ingredients for green cleaning products.
- Identify costs and savings relating to making your own cleaning products.
- Have an understanding of some simple green cleaning life hacks.
- Have made 3 simple green cleaning products using natural kitchen ingredients.
