Do you want to get better at dealing with conflict? Not sure how to start or conduct a difficult conversation? Or is it hard for you to set a limit or to manage your emotions in the moment? If you answered yes to any of these questions then this course is right for you. It will help you to navigate the art of difficult conversations, especially if you're in the creative sector.

This is a skills-based training, first taking you through conflict frameworks, and then supporting you to practice the tools learnt in the workshop so that you can embed the skills for the future. Madeleine Taylor from People Skills Consulting has run this training many times before and it's proven to work, but for the first time she's collaborating with The Sensonauts. We're shaping it specially together for the arts, because we've found there is a real need in this area for creatives.

You will learn how to identify your conflict styles, options for managing emotions in difficult moments, ways to set boundaries, and how your thinking impacts your behaviour. We will go through the 6 process elements that can give the best outcome for a difficult conversation, discuss how to best frame an interaction, and will then practice conversations in a supported way.

This is a full day weekend course to give you the opportunity to learn the content more deeply. This runs on Sat 30th July, 10am - 4.30pm (lunch 30 mins), in person at two/fiftyseven's creative, warm space in the centre of town, with tea/coffee provided.

People Skills Consulting is a people-focused business run by Madeleine Taylor. She has worked in organisations for the last 26 years, specialising in managing interactions with people across the private enterprise, not for profit, government and private sectors. A certified mediator and registered social worker, she delivers bespoke Training, Professional and Group Supervision, Facilitation, Coaching and Conflict Resolution. Madeleine specialises in supporting businesses to build resilient and competent people, and supporting parents to raise resilient and competent children. She is the author of The Business of People: Leadership for the Changing World, and The Parenting Road Code book and Support Workbook. You can find out more about Madeleine here.

Who is this for?
This is targeted at creatives and artists as there is a skills gap in this sector around conflict, however it is open to everyone regardless of whether you have a creative practice, professional or hobbyist!

Accessibility:
We have set two ticket costs, one for those who are doing fine financially ($75), and one for those who are unwaged or finding things tough financially ($40). If even the lower cost is challenging for you right now but you want to be part of this, please get in touch and we'll figure it out together. Normally this workshop is significantly more expensive ($207pp) but we have intentionally set ticket tiers lower to keep this accessible for creatives.

The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, and has gender-neutral bathrooms.

Please note we have a no refund ticket policy, but you are welcome to onsell to a friend or in the Facebook event.
