Contemporary dance is an accessible dance form that encourages both technique and creativity. This class is for students with some prior experience of contemporary dance to develop creative and personal potential through choreography and performance.

Tutors bring their own personal movement vocabularies and choreographic styles, whilst teaching well-respected internationally-influenced techniques with a special New Zealand flavour.

Floor work, exercises and combinations are built on each week, enabling students to explore their own movement style and creativity.

Enjoy the exhilaration that comes from dancing through space with ease and confidence. This class is best suited to students with some prior experience of contemporary dance.

"Fun, intense, great quality course."

"I love the physical and mental challenge and the high levels of achievement and joy."

You can attend this class in studio at TAPAC or online via Zoom. All enrolled students will be sent Zoom links prior to the start of class and a video following the class so that you can do the class at a time convenient to you.

Teaching artist Megan Adams, a graduate of the New Zealand School of Dance, works as a dancer, choreographer, rehearsal director and teacher. She has tutored at TAPAC, Unitec, PIPA and Toi Whakaari (the NZ Drama School) and has worked in schools as a dance education tutor for the Royal New Zealand Ballet Company, Markham Arts and Atamira Dance Company.

Megan was Douglas Wright's choreographic assistant and has worked on the NZ, Australian and European tours of Black Milk (2006), Rapt (2011 and 2013) and Wright's new work The Kiss Inside (2015 and 2016). She has also choreographed various other stage works including 360 (NZ International Arts Festival 2010 and Auckland 2014) as well as working in film.
