Orchestra Wellington is proud to present Day of Percussion. Expert percussionists and composers from across the globe will be under one roof for an epic day of equal parts educating and entertaining.
The day will include clinics, exhibits, workshops, panel discussions and more for beginners, students and teachers alike. The event will culminate in a performance from the professionals involved.
Performers/experts include: Fabian Ziegler, Luca Staffelbach, John Psathas, Taiko Group Taikoza, Sam Notman - Drumset, Orchestra Wellington Percussion Team, NZSO Percussion Team, Eric Renick - Auckland Philharmonia, Justin DeHart - University of Canterbury.
Tickets will act as a day pass, with audience members able to come and go as they please between 10am and 6pm. The schedule for the day is as follows:
10am: Taikoza (Alan Gibbs Hall), Percussion tips for school teachers (Prep room)
11am: Orchestral clinic (Alan Gibbs Hall), Rhythm workshop (Prep room)
12pm: Intro to mallets for drummers (Alan Gibbs Hall), Panel discussion on writing and performing for percussion (Prep room)
1pm: Sound check for Fabian and Luca concert
2pm: Fabian and Luca workshop (Alan Gibbs Hall)
3pm: Justin DeHart Clinic - Extended Techniques on Percussion: Solo Repertoire of John Bergamo (Prep room)
4pm: Drum Set Clinic - Musicworks Sam Notman
5pm: Informal concert featuring: Fabian and Luca, Justin DeHart, Orchestra Wellington, NZSO.
