Deathnir: Metal at The Monkey House

Beat Fairy Events is excited to present Deathnir - Hamilton’s top thrash metal band, who have developed its music with strong influences from 80s American thrash and bands from the new wave of British heavy metal.

The name Deathnir comes from Old Norse which roughly translates to: “divine weapon of death”. The band was founded by Adam Johnson and Drew Carter, two brothers with Viking ancestry who wanted to represent that in their band’s name and music. A number of Deathnir’s songs have references to Viking mythology and draw influence from Norse legends.

Deathnir’s musical influences include: Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Anthrax and Judas Priest.

They'll be playing a set of their energetic originals, including some off their upcoming album which was recorded right here in Whitianga. AND for those Iron Maiden fans, they will close out the show with a 45 minute set of Maiden covers. Hell yeah!!
