Join us to hear from Mavis Mullins, as she shares her pathway from working in her family’s shearing business to the top of her field in governance and leadership. Her inspiring journey includes key pivot points, lessons learnt and her experiences working in a non-traditional industry.

Mavis began her working life in her family’s shearing business, Paewai Mullins Shearing, based in Dannevirke. She soon moved into management and under her leadership, built a business with a global reputation. Along the way, Mavis built an outstanding commercial and governance portfolio with brands including 2degrees, Massey University and Landcorp. She is also a current Board member of UNICEF Aotearoa, Moana Fisheries and Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union.

Mavis’s extensive list of national awards, honours and accolades are testament to her governance excellence, her ability to connect people and her inspirational leadership. In 2002, she was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to the wool industry. She has won numerous business and leadership awards including being inducted into the New Zealand Business Hall of Fame in 2017.
