Gisborne Canoe and Tramping Club - Whinray Scenic Reserve

Whinray Scenic Reserve is a 429ha reserve featuring original native forest and a spectacular set of waterfalls on the wild and scenic Motu River.

This trip will probably be a “there and back” walk through the scenic reserve along the old coach road, starting from, and finishing again at, Motu Falls Road picnic area beside the Motu River. From the picnic area the track crosses the swing bridge and climbs gently to Maramoko Road, passing through native forest and over numerous small streams. About 4 & 5 hours walking.
