JENNY’S BACK IN TOWN

Featuring Jenny B
Jenny arrived in New Zealand in 2015 and members may remember her stunning first performance at the Auckland Jazz and Blues Club in October of that year. Jenny brings over thirty years of experience in television appearances and singing in Italy, New York, Cuba and various points around the globe. In 2000 Jenny won the best female vocalist award and the press and critics award at the San Remo festival, later, in 2013, she won the Award ‘Coltellino s’Oro’, presented by Pavarotti, the highest award that the Consortium of Parmigiano Reggiano.

From her first band in Italy, ‘The Funky Company’, Jenny progressed to being the lead voice on the international hit ‘Rhythm of the Night., touring with Maceo Parker, recording in Cuba, and finally settling in New Zealand where her stunning voice and stage presence has delighted jazz audiences. She regularly performs in Japan and Australia (Covid permitting).
At the moment Jenny is recording for three different overseas productions based in Europe and the United States, these recordings will be released next year. In New Zealand she teaches stage presence at a number of Auckland schools, the New Zealand School of Music, Wellington, and she runs invited workshops for actors in Wellington under the direction of theatre legend Miranda Harcourt.
For this Auckland Jazz and Blues Club gig Jenny will be accompanied by her regular quartet and will perform jazz, soul, funk and who knows what else. A great evening is promised.

The Band:

Miles Boermans, on keyboards, Is a young and in-demand musician making his mark on the Auckland jazz scene. As a bonus, he also brings the average age of the band down to an acceptable level.

Nathan Collings, Guitar, Former graduate from the Massey Jazz Programme and a very tasty contemporary player and a dedicated jazz educator. Taught at Rangitoto College for several years and now is HoD Music at Elim Christian College.

Alberto Santarelli – bass and the band regard him as the Godfather of bass playing in Auckland. Alberto’s gig history reads like a who’s who of jazz; his solos delight listeners and his solid time keeps drummers in line.

Dr Trevor Thwaites, drums, is a former Principal Lecturer and Head of School at the University of Auckland and has been Chair of the KBB Secondary School Music Festival (8 – 12 August, 2022) for the past 12 years. Trevor believes in supporting live music, and loves backing hip vocalists like Jenny B.
