In this workshop you'll learn about tree health; and different approaches to pruning summer fruit trees (eg. plum & apple).
This will be a hands-on workshop which will cover the basics of pruning and different pruning approaches. If you have loppers or secateurs please bring them along. This is suitable for learners and for the more experienced who just want to lend a hand.
This is one in a series of kai workshops, hosted by Go Eco (Waikato Environment Centre).
Learn how to grow your own kai, from sowing seeds to pruning trees. We're hosting this series at community gardens across the city, The Fairfield Project, Western Community Centre and Waimarie: Hamilton East Community House.
Local food growing is a climate action and builds food secure communities. "Food security exists when all people at all times have physical and economic access to sufficient safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life".
Our kai workshops are facilitated by Michael Heiler, our resident gardener and aborist who takes a permaculture approach to the relationship of food growing & the environment.
Donation for workshops appreciated but please register.
