Class Description
Ever wanted to make your own knife? In this three-day class over two weekends, learn how to develop a design then forge and grind a piece of spring steel into a wonderful utility knife perfect for slicing, dicing and chopping. In this class you will - Design your own knife - simple forms are highly recommended to ensure completion within the limited time frame. Forge, normalise, form, surface finish, harden, temper your blade. Make and attach a handle.
Note - Suitable for all levels. Minimum age is 13, though if under 16 you will need to be accompanied by a supervising caregiver or parent.
What materials will be needed?
Overalls are great if you have them. Otherwise cotton or wool clothing for protection from hot items. Leather boots are a must, leather gloves are optional. No acrylic clothing/footwear please – melts very easily if touched by hot metal and can leave a nasty burn. Dust masks are recommended.
