The Otago Art Society 146th Annual Exhibition will open on the 18th of June until the 16th of July. The exhibition features OAS member’s artwork in a range of mediums including sculpture, painting, photography, and jewelry.

The Society is celebrating its younger members this year, with a new award worth $1,500 especially for emerging artists under the age of 30. The Elizabeth Howie Young Artist Award is generously sponsored by the Hughes Family Trust. Elizabeth, a relative of the Hughes family, was an artist and former committee member of the Society. While the Society has a diverse range of artists, they are particularly keen to encourage and support new creatives who may be exhibiting their work for the first time. This award, along with discounts for student membership to OAS, is part of that vision.

The Elizabeth Howie Award is just one of seven awards on offer at the Annual Exhibition. This year, mother and son duo Pauline Bellamy and Manu Berry will be judging the artworks together. Both are well regarded Dunedin artists whose works are familiar to many, Pauline is primarily a painter, and Manu a printmaker.

All works will be for sale, with the exhibition open 10am to 4pm daily in the historic Dunedin Railway Station. Entry is free.
