Project Ofa

Pulotu Underworld presents PROJECT OFA in partnership with Rainbow Youth, a three-hour online event of live musical performances, cultural groups, and creative kōmiti’s coming together to raise funds for the people of Tonga.

Our Vision

On 14 January 2022, an underwater volcanic eruption occurred in Hunga Ha’apai Hunga-Tonga that resulted in a tsunami which affected the neighbouring islands, homes and people of Tonga. ‘Project Ofa’ was first launched as a public call out by DJ Lady Shaka and collective Pulotu Underworld via social media for artists and musicians to create a fundraiser relief concert to support the people of Tonga during this time. As a result of this outreach many like minded creatives and community organisations came together to create an online streamed event that’s foundations are built on the principles of fāmili (family), kōmiti (community), foaki (giving) and ofa (love).

This act of love is a reflection of how during times of need, we come together to support one another. To all the fāmili (families) in Tonga and of the Tongan community we are thinking of you always and keeping you in our prayers.

Who are we?

Pulotu Underworld is a collective that celebrates Pacific artistry, music and culture. Through the work of ‘Project Ofa’ we have gained new members in our fāmili (family) who have donated their time as volunteers to bring this event to life.
