RESPECT AND CONSENT
Everyone involved in this gig has a part to play in making it a great event. There will be no tolerance of any racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, body shaming, ableism, or any other grossness.
Bring your most respectful attitudes - be considerate of others in your interactions and the space you are taking up. Remember, consent is key, and we’re not just talking about sex here. If someone makes it clear they don’t want to dance with you/drink with you/hug you or anything else, respect their choice and move on with enjoying your night. And hey - being too drunk does not excuse your behaviour.

If you need any support or have any concerns, the Valhalla staff and the Psy-Care organisers are here to help.

ABOUT PSY-CARE NZ
Psy-Care NZ Inc. is an entirely volunteer-run organisation, operating on site at events and festivals around Te Wai Pounamu. We operate under a harm reduction framework, an approach which acknowledges the reality of drug use in our society, and implements evidence-based practices such as drug education and on-the-ground support to minimise the risks associated with drug use.
We provide a calm and secure space for festival goers who are overwhelmed or struggling during the event, specifically if their distress is related to drug use, with the aim of making their experience safer and less traumatic. In situations of overdose or medical emergencies, we work in conjunction with the medical team, complementing their medical knowledge with our expertise in drug effects and interactions. We also provide education and resources on safer drug use and drug interactions so that people who choose to use drugs can do so in the safest manner possible.

If you want to know more or are interested in volunteering with us, message us on Facebook or email us at psycarenz@gmail.com

WHAT WE’RE FUNDRAISING FOR
A new large bell tent - we actually bought this last season as the old one was in a bleak state and not the cosy welcoming atmosphere we aim to provide, so we’d put funds towards paying it off.

Our own radios - so we can always be in contact with our roaming teams, getting support where it’s needed quickly and efficiently, and coordinating with medics, security and other services.

Our own generator - so we are better equipped to work at smaller festivals who need our service but who can’t provide this kind of infrastructure.

Upskilling our team - there are various courses (such as psychological first aid) which we can use to level up our service even further.
