Sanctuary Stargazing - Matariki at Zealandia

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED due to Wellington's winter weather not playing ball for star-gazing. We're gutted, as I'm sure you are too. check out our other school holidays/Matariki activities on our website.

Zealandia has teamed up with the Wellington Astronomical Society to bring you a drop-in stargazing event as part of the Matariki ki Te Māra a Tāne/Matariki at Zealandia celebrations.

No need to book, just drop into the main carpark!

It will kick off with a Matariki Talk at 7pm and then you will get a chance to get a closer look at the moon and stars through the telescopes and we’ll have experts on site to help out and answer any questions.

There will also be a food truck running on the night.

Please note: It's likely to be very cold, so please wear warm clothing. You're welcome to bring blankets and your own food and drink.

We’ll have some seating available on the night but it’s mostly standing (we are happy to provide seating on request for anyone needing it and will have a ‘warm zone’ inside the Visitors Centre).
