The 5 June show features Bill Lake, Alan Downes, and Don Mackay
.
Bill Lake - A rare live performance by a living legend of Wellington music. Bill has been a major figure in the Wellington music scene for half a century; from the Windy City Strugglers starting in the late 1960s, through to the Pelicans and Living Daylights in the 1980s, and his solo albums “Home Truths” (1996) and “As is Where is” (2017). Often working in partnership with the late Arthur Baysting, Bill has written some of Wellington music's classic songs. “At a board meeting of the stalwarts of Wellington’s R&B scene, Bill Lake would sit near the top of the table.” - AudioCulture
Alan Downes - Lyrical ballads about the good times and how the bad times can give you the best yarns. They are (mostly) true stories told with a bit of humour and a little nostalgia. Bucolic kiwiana set to music.
Don Mackay - Newtown songwriter Don Mackay is lost in the Bermuda triangle of musical genres. “Too country for the folkies, too folky for the rockers, too rock for the country crowd.”
Door from 6:00pm.
Don Mackay - from 7:00pm;
Alan Downes - from 8:00pm; and
Bill Lake - from 9:00pm
Tickets $10 at the door or from Eventfinda.
There is a limit of 100 tickets for this show. People intending to attend as a group should book a table separately from the venue - info@newtownmoon.co.nz, 04 389 9933.
