Introducing Strange Brew

Classic British anthems of the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.

THE SHOW

Strange Brew is a newly formed Auckland band celebrating all that is good in British music. With music spanning 3 decades there is sure to be something for everyone.

Each band member has over 20 years musical experience and are looking to bring their own unique renditions of legendary bands and artists such as The Rolling Stones, Billy Idol, Queen, The Beatles, Joe Cocker, Bad Company, Status Quo, 10cc, Madness, The Specials and much more.

Take a trip down memory lane and join in the celebration of classic British music. Remember to bring a stiff upper lip!

Strange Brew play at Top Venues such as Deep Creek Browns Bay, Paraoa Brewing Company, Titirangi RSA, The Albany, Barrell Inn Howick, Huapai Tavern, New Brew Bar Albany and many more...

THE BAND

Matt John (vocals)

Hailing from the valleys of South Wales, Matt has been the leading voice of many bands throughout the years. Most recently Matt has been the frontman for several tribute acts including Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and British Invasion shows. He may not have the look of Tom Jones, but this welsh crooner can hit the notes when required!

Andrew Davenport (vocals and guitar)

English born guitarist and Doctor of music, Andrew brings an impressive technical edge to the Best of British Show. Utilizing standard and twin neck guitars along with providing many of the vocal harmonies, Andrew is not your ordinary musician. Andrew has been performing live for over 25 years throughout the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

Maurice Bradshaw (percussion and vocals)

As the only kiwi in the band Maurice has been playing drums locally and throughout New Zealand for over 20 years. Originally a jazz percussionist Maurice was lured to the big sounding British bands of the 60s, 70s and 80s. Being an accomplished vocalist in his own right, Maurice adds the elusive voice to create 3 part harmonies on many of the songs Strange Brew perform.

Steve Roach (bass)

Steve is of Irish decent and with that he not only brings the luck of the Irish but also the Irish passion for music. Having played with many hard rock bands over many years, Steve enjoys the lighter pace of the Best of British review and the ability to add to some of the more subtle music which is played during the show.
