Summer Foraging Workshop. All welcome to this outdoor gathering hosted at a private dwelling.

Step into nature to discover a world full of wild, edible plants. Focusing on abundant, delicious & nutritious edible weeds & commonly found plants, you’ll leave this workshop eager to forage in your own backyard & neighborhood.

We’ll take a wander around my gardens to find, identify, taste & discuss edible plants growing freely & abundantly. You will learn:

- the basic principles of sustainable & ethical foraging & wild harvesting

- the botanical names of plants as well as their multiple common names

- how to confidently identify 10-20 wild plants, with lots of details about lookalikes & toxic plants to avoid

- nutritional & medicinal properties of each plant, including how to prepare simple healing remedies at home

- how to prepare each plant for maximum nutrition & flavor, we’ll discuss simple recipes & tips for cooking each plant

- the folklore & hisotry of each plant, how our ancestors foraged for & ate what we now call ‘weeds’. Many of these fascinating & often funny stories help us to connect with the plants, our ancestors and allow us to remember each plant better.

You’ll leave feeling empowered with the knowledge needed to build better local food resilience & food security. You can skip going to the supermarket after this workshop, instead gathering your own wild greens for dinner.

We’ll start with a cup of herbal tea, and end the session by enjoying a wildly delicious snack made with seasonally available wild ingredients.

Focusing on wild edible weeds that are growing abundantly all over New Zealand during the Hot Summer months.

If you enjoyed the first workshop you attended with me (any other time of the year), and want to learn more, then you’ll love this different offering, which delves even further into the world of edible wild weeds. Also suitable for first time foraging workshop attendees, we'll cover the basics.

Hosted in my own wild garden, in a 'private dwelling' this workshop operates under 'gathering' guidelines. We'll be outdoors the whole time, class number is maximum of 15people, we'll be eating and drinking.

All welcome, this is an inclusive gathering, no vax pass requirements. Obviously, if you're unwell, please stay at home.

p.s. if you enjoy this workshop, OR you can't make it in person, then you'll love my 'Hot Season Foraging Guide', available to download under 'Foraging Guides'. Check it out!

Reviews From Past Workshop Participants:

Highly recommend any budding weed eaters attend Felicity's foraging workshops, held in her fabulous garden, see, touch taste and gain knowledge on the nutritional value of each weed, whilst learning what to avoid. Felicity is a wealth of knowledge, extremely approachable and skilled at bringing a group of strangers together in learning. Here's a pic of my salad from my garden after today's session. - Vickie Chandler

I've been looking for a way to get more fresh greens into my diet and I love the idea of foraging for them. Felicity's Wild Edible Greens workshop was the perfect way to learn how to do this. She taught us how to ID easy to find, nutritious and safe to eat weeds and how to use them in tasty ways. It was also great to learn which lookalikes to avoid too! – Nicky Boughtwood

Felicity hosted a super workshop in her garden last Saturday. Thank you Felicity for sharing your knowledge and inspiring us all to continue foraging and being at one with nature. It was great to meet other like-minded people. Loved the chickweed pesto, dandelion vinegar and wild weed salad! Felicity has a lovely way of imparting her knowledge and her passion shines through. Makes you just want to get out there and forage forever! – Raewyn Howes
