The Taranaki National Art Awards is a national art competition held in Ōpunakē, South Taranaki. This year the Taranaki National Art Awards celebrates it's 20th year in 2022. The annual event is a highlight of the regions creative calendar, offering opportunities for artists from all over New Zealand to showcase their artwork in the rural coastal town of Ōpunakē. Attracting over 300 entries from all over New Zealand, the exhibition showcases diverse works in seven categories, competing for a prize pool of over $12,000. Visitors from all over New Zealand can view the large display of artwork as they continue to visit the Taranaki Garden festival and the Powerco Taranaki Fringe garden festival as well as the Taranaki Art trail.
