Enjoy an afternoon cycle to Kate Sheppard House, Devonshire tea and explore the history of women's cycling with Dr Clare Simpson.

Don your tweeds and meet at the Kate Sheppard National Memorial for a leisurely autumnal cycle ride out to Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House. Prizes for best dressed on the day!

Enjoy Devonshire tea, before Dr Clare Simpson talks about the rise of women's cycling in the late nineteenth century. Why did this activity, which defied convention, become so popular? How did our city’s Atalanta Cycling Club influence women’s freedom and suffrage?

Dr Clare Simpson, now retired from academia, has a deep interest in the history of New Zealand women's cycling.
