Come and try something new that will leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed. Wairarapa Nature Immersion is excited to offer Forest Bathing walks throughout spring on the last Saturday of September, October and November 2022.
At Wairarapa Nature Immersion we know how busy life can get and we believe the science which tells us that time spent in the bush is the perfect antidote for stress and a wonderful way to boost wellbeing, mood, purpose and focus.
A Nature Immersion walk will assist you with slowing down, with taking some time to nurture yourself and to connect with nature in a way that makes you feel calm and recharged at the same time.
Away from the 'shoulds' and 'musts' of daily life, your trained Nature Immersion guide will take you on a 2-hours long sensory journey where we will explore the forest by using our senses – sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. The easy walk includes several stops along the path to allow us to soak in the natural world around us and you will be guided in slowing your breathing down.
Studies into the benefits of forest bathing - or mindfulness in nature - show that spending time in nature, away from the demands of daily life, helps reduce stress, anxiety and depression while also improving physiological challenges brought on by prolonged stress such as high blood pressure.
Fensham Reserve is a wonderful location for Nature Immersion. The 48-hectar reserve contains a remnant kahikatea swamp forest, regenerating bush, wetlands and some magnificent podocarps believed to be between 400 and 700 years old. Fensham Reserve is a 5-minutes’ drive from Carterton, Wairarapa.
Each walk includes a drink of locally made herbal tea and a nurturing bite to eat at the end.
Note that pre-booking is essential for this walk and that numbers are limited to eight. The walk is suitable for all fitness levels, however contact us if you think you will require extra support or have questions about the terrain.
This particular walk is not suitable for children under the age of approximately 12 years but there is some flexibility - please enquire.
This walk can be done in most weathers, but in case of an extreme weather event, we may need to postpone to the following day (Sunday) or you can opt for a full refund.
Please visit our website and Facebook Page for more information about forest bathing. You can also read about us in the 2021 Spring Issue of the Wairarapa Lifestyle Magazine and listen to me on Charlotte Flows show on Arrow 92.7FM.
We look forward to hearing from you and sharing this remarkable experience in nature with you.
