Gather your family and friends, pack a picnic and come and celebrate the last long weekend of summer at Ngā Manu…We have FREE ENTRY FOR KIDS throughout the long weekend!

Our accessible reserve protects a precious remnant of original native forest that is alive with birdsong. Experience a mix of beautiful recreational spaces; nature nooks, open lawns, and picnic spots adjacent to wetlands. Explore our network of all-weather, wheelchair and buggy friendly forest trails. Enjoy sweeping views over the Reserve to Hemi Matenga from our lookout tower. See kiwi, tuatara, kākā and kea in nocturnal displays and walk-through aviaries.

- 2 pm - Watch the Ngā Manu eels being fed. Purchase an eel feeding token for $2 to have a go at feeding an eel yourself.
- 2:15pm - Join our guided forest walk. Meet at our eel pond after the eel feeding. Limit of 12 people - RSVP at our Visitor Centre counter.

Celebrate Waitangi Day with us on Sunday:
- 10am to 2pm on Sunday - Children’s activities in our Robin’s Nest building.
- 1pm on Sunday - Take part in our Kiwiana Dress-up Parade on the Robin’s Nest Lawn.
The best dressed family will win a wonderful stay in our Theo’s Cottage accommodation for up to 4 people (Valued up to $210).

And don’t miss our wonderful new attraction – DWELLBEINGS. This sculpture trail will put your observation skills to the test and get everyone in the family engaged with nature as you follow the clues to seek out the 8 Dwellbeings. These tiny, abstracted dwellings are created from salvaged and reclaimed materials by renowned artists Kemi Niko & Co. and they will get you thinking about homes and habitats from the perspective of the native animals and plants that are iconic to our reserve. We’re sure you’ll have loads of fun finding them all!

As a charitable trust, your visit to Nga Manu supports Nga Manu’s wildlife and conservation programmes – thank you!

Please Note: Visitors to Ngā Manu Nature Reserve will be required to show their My Vaccine Pass prior to entry. Masks must be worn in our Visitor Centre and nocturnal house, but are not required outside. No prior booking necessary for admission to the reserve.
