Join us for an inspiring evening of story sharing, at which six Hibiscus Coast locals will tell their personal stories of adversity and resilience.
This thought-provoking event is particularly topical as we learn to navigate increasingly complex global challenges. By sharing in these real-life stories we hope listeners will make meaningful connections and be able to provide hope to others when overcoming life’s many obstacles. Please join us for an evening to remember.
This event is part of Auckland Council Libraries’ We Read Auckland | Ka Pānui Tātau i Tāmaki Makaurau.

Story 5 - Work-life balance: As a detective since 1986, this speaker’s daily life involves death and tragedy as well as associated media pressure. Maintaining work-life balance in such a role is critical to ensure the physical and emotional wellbeing that enables him to be a loving family person outside of work.
Story 6 - Cultural Survival: Emigrating to New Zealand as a teenager and widowed when she was pregnant with three children under the age of eight, this determined speaker set out to ensure that her children would know about and feel proud of their Niuean culture.
Story 7 - Making the change to a values-based life. From selling chemicals to becoming a community activator and environmental educator in a largely off-grid tiny home, this story details the extensive life changes that our guest speaker made to ensure that her work and lifestyle reflected her values.
