Sat 27 May – Flower Technique
Acrylic Pouring is a painting technique where colours flow and interact in a beautiful and unpredictable way. We will be using the Flower pouring methods. Over the course of two hours, you will complete 2 one-of-a-kind paintings in this workshop which you will take home once dry. Please be guided with your choices of workshop/s by the images shown.
Acrylic pouring is a delicate science. First, acrylic paint mixes with a pouring medium. Then it is applied onto surfaces in a specific way to create wonderful pieces of art. These specific ways are known as methods, such as those mentioned above. This creative workshop requires no prior artistic experience: we’ll teach you each step of the process. From how to pick suitable colours to mix, using the correct mixing mediums, and how to create cells, our tutor will guide you through the whole process.
At the end of this workshop, you will have created two unique masterpieces reflecting the acrylic pouring method that day’s workshop is focused on. Acrylic needs to cure (dry) once poured, so you won’t be able to take them straight home from the workshop. Instead, they will be placed on our shelves and will be ready to collect in 48 hours.
All materials included in the fee.
It’s not too messy, but please don’t wear your best outfit!
The different techniques:
Ocean Wave – swipe technique creating realistic giant ocean wave curl.
Negative Space – Pouring paints on a solid colour to create interesting cell formations.
Dirty Pour – layering individual colours before pouring and watching the colours mix and evolve.
Dutch Pour – uses air to manipulate the paints on canvas creating ribbon edges and cell lacing detail.
Flower Technique – blown technique using a straw fluid acrylic creating gorgeous flower shapes.
This workshop is taught by a tutor from the Art in Bloom Academy.
