Life Drawing with Nicky Hartley
Nicky Hartley loves to paint the human form and its relationship to its internal and external environment: The play of colour and the flow of line and the expression of marks. Nicky graduated as an illustrator 27 years ago, and since then she has worked freelance in the UK, Romania, Zimbabwe, Thailand, India, Australia and now NZ where she has lived for 18 years. She has supported and held workshops for children, and adults in these countries while initiating art groups and a couple of community art galleries.
Nicky's life drawing workshops offer participants to go on a little exploration journey with mark-making, drawing blind and using all our senses. We get a sense of our own body as well as the figure in front of us. This can be light and fun as well as deep and stilling the busy.
Life Drawing Workshop
Your 6-hour sessions with Nicky will give you enough time and tools to explore the expressive marks that create the human form, resulting in a final piece to hang on your wall, give away or sell! Nicky will guide you with simple and fun exercises to help you learn to see what is actually present and show you how to paint the human body.
Materials needed for the class:
You shall use a mixture of mediums, some of which Nicky will provide but please bring along any drawing tools, pastels, paints, feathers, sticks, paper, glue, hardboards, canvases you would like to use and if you have surplus to share!
