Festival of Christmas: WBS Big Switch Opening Night

Kick start the festival with a BANG at The WBS Big Switch. Hang your decorated snowflakes on the WBS Community Tree, and bring some goods to donate to the Food Bank.

Enjoy live music from Steve Carlin, entertainment, street performers and Night Markets. Then, once darkness falls, see the magical lights being switched on for the first time, along with an explosive fireworks display. And of course, there will be snow! An opening for the whole community to enjoy. Don’t miss it.

WHAT'S THE PLAN?

3.00pm - ARTISAN MARKETS on MacMaster Street
Rug up and browse the high-quality goods on offer, and warm your hearts with the live music and unique atmosphere.

3.00pm - HOST STEVE CARLIN
- Singing some festive & showtime tunes, and being your host-of-all-hosts for the evening at Town Hall

3.00pm - 8pm POWERCO WINTER WONDERLAND
- Head down to Stella Bull Park for the Powerco winter wonderland. The park has been lit up like a magical forest. Grab some headphones and listen to some tunes as you skip, stroll, boogey your way through the sparkles.

4.00pm - 8pm FOODTRUCK MARKETS
- Foodtrucks are located at Town Hall, Stella Bull Park and Trustlands carpark (just across the road from The White Swan) and at Truckstop

4.00pm, 5.00pm & 6.00pm THE HEIDI & SEAN SHOW at Town Hall
- A 40 minute show that consists of Fire eating, Comedy, Juggling, whip cracking with the grand finale of a ten foot unicycle with audience interaction.

5.30pm LIGHTING DOWN MAIN STREET
- The amazing lighting and projections will be switched on for the first time at 5.30pm. The animated projections will be on Blackwell & Sons and the Emporos building. There will also be lighting on many of our other fabulous heritage buildings, so grab a bite and take a stroll.

5.45pm KARAKIA FROM PAPAWAI PA to open the festival

6.00pm LET IT SNOW
- Yes there will be snowfall, at Town Hall. Snow will be falling from the balcony up there from 6pm for 5 mins, and from then every half hour until 8pm. A great photo opportunity. Upload your photos and @greytownvillage. Snow will be falling every Friday and Saturday through July so lots of opportunities to enjoy.

7.00pm THE BIG SWTICH
- We are kicking the festival off with a bang! A magnificent fireworks display will be let off from the south end of Greytown school at 7pm. The best viewing spots are right here, along the pavement in Main street and Stella Bull Park. Please listen to the traffic marshals and stay within the safe zones.
