Our event starts on 13th July at 4pm when we will welcome attendees onto the marae with a powhiri.(we ask guests to arrive from 3.30pm and all be gathered to start by 3.50pm)

As part of the powhiri there will be an opportunity to make a koha. We suggest this be a gold coin if you would like to contribute.

The powhiri will be followed by an evening to share kai. Please bring a plate for sharing (no alcohol), waiata and an opportunity to learn more about Matariki and our Wairarapa Dark Skies.

If the skies are clear we will have an opportunity to do some star gazing with Under The Stars and enjoy the Community Matariki Glow Walk which will be at Hau Ariki for the event.

Guests who have chosen to stay will then get to enjoy the unique experience of a noho (stay over) in the Marae.

(please bring a sheet, blanket & pillow)

We will then rise at dawn to see Matariki rising and welcome the new year.

Hau Ariki will provide a shared breakfast will be enjoyed and then a closing karakia will mark the end of the Matariki celebration.
