A unique fusion of Indian Classical, Irish Traditional and Contemporary Jazz featuring
Basant Madhur (Tabla), Jon Sanders (Guitar/Bassouki), Sargam Madhur (Sitar), Akhil Madhur (Tabla) and Lucas Kewell (Piano/Keys)

Basant Madhur.
Tabla master Basant is director of the Indian School of Music in Auckland and has won numerous numerous awards in India and accompanied international legends such Grammy winner Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (Ry Cooder), flautists Ronu Majumdar (Ravi Shankar) and Rakesh Chaurasia, alto saxophonist Kadri Gopalnath, and mridangam master Patri Satish Kumar. He has also collaborated with Western musicians in fusion music.

Jon Sanders,
Bassouki player and guitarist, his music has a flavour of Arabic, Celtic, funk, soul and gypsy jazz cultures. The quantum leaping music of Jon Sanders has circumnavigated the globe many times over the last 25 years, entertaining thousands of listeners along the way. His compositions for drop D guitar, bouzouki and ukelele have been covered by bands and used in film, television and radio and he has performed in an impressive number of bands in the modern acoustic scene.

Lucas Kewell
Lucas plays piano and keyboard and has developed an ability to improvise and express music in his own way, not jazz, not classical but prducing music that many audiences have said is 'coming from within' When asked "where does the music come from?" he replied "I don't know...it just feels right" Lucas has won several National awards in competition, including 'most outstanding pianist' and 'most outstanding original composition' He plays in a jazz quartet and performs solo concerts.

Akhil Madhur
Akhil plays tabla and is the nephew of Basant, part of the Whau Comminity Orchestra and has been playing music with many musicians over the years within the Indian community in Auckland.

Sargam Madhur
Sargam is the daughter of Basant, also part of the Whau Community orchestra and the Sargam School of Music , she will be playing sitar and completes the line-up of this rare mix of musicians playing together for the first time at this special 'India Meets Ireland' concert.
