Paint It Pink – Gloria Installation By Sam Duckor-Jones

In October 2021 poet and sculptor Sam Duckor-Jones, moved into the former St Andrews Church in Blaketown, Greymouth. He set about painting the building pink – inside and out – and named it Gloria. The work also features a unique congregation of 50 papier-mâché people. In 2023, Featherston Booktown offers you the opportunity to experience an innovative and immersive work of art, which the world is talking about. The pop-up Gloria will explode this year’s Karukatea Festival with resplendent pink hues and tones and offer the opportunity to reflect on the journey of transformation – both artistic and human.
