This debate-like event is designed to question perceptions of identity informed by art, genomics and jewellery in Aotearoa. Two debating teams will react to the proposition that the body is a draft. Identity is complex and so any fruitful discussion requires an interdisciplinary approach.
The debaters are: Artist, educator and geneticist Craig Hilton; social activist, lawyer and artist Metiria Turei; biochemist Andrew Shelling; contemporary jeweller and educator Andrea Daly; bio-artist and researcher Oron Catts; and artist and forensic facial approximation researcher Louisa Baillie. There are few rules as the conversation is paramount; panel members can swap teams and change their arguments. This event is convened by jeweller, educator and Massey University PhD candidate Johanna Zellmer and will be video-recorded.
Please be aware that panel members may be subject to change if circumstances require.
