Welcome to The Classic, NZ's home of live comedy, kicking off a brand New Year of Live Comedy.
Late & Live every Saturday night, from Jan 7th at 10pm the mic is open to all-comers keen to have a go at stand-up comedy. All you need is up to 6 minutes of your own original live comedy. Anything goes - stand-up, music, sketch, mime, magic ...anything you find funny.
Our guest Pro MC introduces up to 10 open mic rookies each week in a 90- minute frenzy of raw comedy.
Just one final gig in our Summer Raw season this coming Sat April 29 before we take a short break across the 2023 NZ International Comedy Festival. On Saturday nights at 10pm on May 13,20 & 27 we have the Classic Comedy Fest All-Stars L8 Edition featuring the stars of the Fest (see separate listing).
We will be back with the L8 Raw Open Mic on Sat June 3rd when we kick off the Heats for the 2023 Raw Comedy Quest - our annual search for the Funniest New Comedian of the Year.

Sat 3 June to Sat 30 Sept at 10pm: The Heats for the 2023 Raw Comedy Quest ... our search for the Funniest New Comedian of the Year with $2500 in prize money, The Glory and offers of Pro gigs to WIN.
Sat 07 & Sat 14 Oct at 10pm: The Semi-Finals of the 2023 Raw Comedy Quest
Sat 28 Oct at 7:30pm: The Grand Final of the 2023 Raw Comedy Quest

Prior booking, particularly for Exclusive Tables is recommended otherwise door sales from 6:30pm.
Seating is cabaret style with options for Exclusive 'Bubble' Tables;
Single General Admit $10
Exclusive Table of 2 - $20 ($10 ea)
Exclusive Table of 4 - $40 ($10 ea)
Exclusive Table of 6 - $48 ($8 ea)
Exclusive Table of 10 -$80 ($8 ea)
Just book the required number of tables and add a single General admission, if required, to suit your 'Bubble' group size. Transaction fees will apply.
CATERING / FOOD OPTIONS:
We have a regular Bar Snack Menu which can be ordered the night including pizza, fries, Fried Chicken, fresh Sushi & Edamame beans.
We do not offer any full meal/dining options but our showtime of 7:30 pm suits those who wish to dine before coming to the show.
Check out Tanuki's Sake Bar & Restaurant and Tanuki's Cave (Yakatori) which is right next door!! They have a function room for larger groups - early bookings are essential.
For larger groups we recommend platters from the Finger Food Catering Company. (fingerfood.co.nz)
The Classic is a licensed bar. R18 / Supervised.
Minors under 18 can be admitted if accompanied by a parent of legal guardian.
Shows may contain mature adult content that may offend some people.
Anyone looking under 25 will be asked for ID in the form of NZ Driver's License, Passport or HNZ 18+ Card.
Entry will not be granted to minors, those without ID or intoxicated persons.
