Register your team to compete in the "Great Waihi Beach Scavenger Hunt 2023".
You have two days to complete 12 Challenges that will take you from the North end of Waihi Beach all the way to Bowentown. All teams that complete all 12 challenges go in the draw to be one of three lucky teams to dig for treasure! All three teams come away with something.... will it be $750. $500 or $250.
To complete your registration, you will need to pick up your scavenger hunt pack from the Waihi Beach information centre between 8.00am - 10am Saturday the 28th of January, make sure you have transport, a camera that can upload photos and bucket loads of energy!
Some T’s and C’s
* Teams can have a maximum of five members aged 16 years and over, you can have unlimited support crew under the age of 16!
* To complete your scavenger hunt registration, you will need to pick up your hunt pack from the Waihi Beach Info Centre – 26 Wilson Road, Waihi Beach between 8am and 10am on Saturday 28th January 2023 - you will also be asked to complete a more detailed team form, team member names etc.
* You have 12 Challenges to complete - they do not have to be completed in any particular order, read all the challenges and make your plan of attack, as you have until 2.00 pm on Sunday you can still fit in that BBQ and swim at the beach!
* You need to upload a photo for each challenge - you must do this on a public Instagram account – feel free to set one up just for the hunt (do this prior to picking up for hunt pack as you need to let us know what it is!) You MUST use the hashtag #waihibeachhunt2023 and MUST include your Team Name on each post - one photo per Post. Please upload photos as you complete the challenges, so we don’t delay the live draw on Sunday.
* As you make your way through the challenges, please make sure you adhere to the current public health regulations.
* You must have consent from people before you photograph them, please make sure you ask first.
* In your hunt pack you have information that will help you complete the challenges.
* If you think you may need some assistance with a challenge at any stage, you can reach out to us on the "Waihi Beach" Facebook page via messenger and we will see what we can do.
* The draw for the final three teams will be held at 3.00pm on Sunday via a Facebook live on our Facebook page "Waihi Beach". The final three teams will be invited to compete in the beach dig for one of the three cash prizes at 4.00pm near the surf club. The final three teams will also be phoned to confirm they are competing in the dig.
