A nourishing, therapeutic Yin Yoga practice to slow down, tune in and let go.

Open to all levels, including beginners. This is a passive, mindful, and mainly floor-based practice for anyone wanting to cultivate more inner peace.

Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and anatomical maps of the myo-fascia meridians, Yin targets the body’s deeper tissues.
Safe stressing and stretching during longer holds releases stored tension from the body and mind, often revealing deep clarity and ease.

To enhance your Yin Yoga experience and connect even deeper to your wholeness, your guide, Simone Grant, blends in inspirational and accessible Eastern mindfulness practices and principles, meditation, Yoga Nidra, pranayama breath work, Ayurveda, and Vedic and ancient philosophy such as the Tao.

Simone designs her classes around Mother Nature’s seasons, working with the meridian pathways, organs, and elements according to traditional Chinese medicine wisdom to create the flow of healthy Qi (or prana) and help you stay in harmony and at your best during the different cycles of the year.

This is more than a deep stretch. Expect to receive 75 minutes of physical, mental, and energetic medicine that will bring more ease, joy, and connection into your life.

Simone is an experienced and certified Level 2 Yoga Teacher with advanced training in Yin Yoga and will safely guide you with modifications and support to meet you where you are at. You will be held in a supportive, welcoming space for your practice and it’s natural, harmonising affects.

Benefits of Yin:

Yin Yoga addresses the connective tissue, which reduces pain and stiffness, improves body posture, strength and endurance and creates elegance, harmony, greater mobility, and health. Further benefits include:

-Reduces stress relief
-Decrease stress
-Lengthens muscles
-Reduces adhesions
-Hydrates tissues and muscles
-Thickens and strengthens ligaments
-Lubricates joints
-Hydrates skin
-Detoxifies
-Reduces degeneration of tissues
-Normalises curvature of the spine
-Reduces osteoporosis
-Helps to prevent fusion of joints
-Calms the nervous system and the mind
-Increases the level of GABA (help the body respond to stress)
-Assists meditative practice

“Yin Yoga with its long, slow stretches gives the chance for the muscles to calm down and then the fascia to stretch and release – this can facilitate the kind of re-patterning that leads to lasting release of chronic holdings, and in many cases, a profound change of mind and body.” – Thomas Myers, Fasica Expert and Author

All equipment is provided. However BYO mat and bolster is recommended.

This class is held at the Yoga Spirit space in the Aramoho Rowing Club, 198 Somme Parade, with expansive front-row seats to the serenity of the Whanganui river.
