Afro Dance Fundamentals is a monthly 4 week course designed to develop the five core values of the Africanist Aesthetic with a particular emphasis on learning to hear & embody specific rhythmic patterns within the music. The course includes training in specific body stances, isolations, and movement pathways; as well as developing skills to improvise.
1-2 focus rhythms from Cuba, Brazil, Guinea and/or Senegal will be covered each month and chosen in consultation with students.
