About the event
Rosemary has the perfect workshop for DIY homewares and gifts! As well as, yet another interesting printmaking technique – Block printing with rubber stamps! Once you’ve carved your pattern out of the rubber block, use it to create repeated patterns on your chosen textile.

In the workshop, participants will choose between a cotton tote and a linen tea towel to print. Then, they’ll draw their mud cloth inspired pattern onto the rubber block, carve it out, ink it up and transfer to their textile. Each participant can create two stamps, and the group can all use each other’s stamps to create unique repeating patterns!

After a career in libraries and as a museum curator she is now living in Rotorua and focusing on her art practice. She has learned printmaking by doing various short courses including reduction lino printing, collagraphs and etching. Her love of block printing has been transferred from paper to textiles via her brand Ruru Textiles. She uses quality linen tea towels and table runners and transforms them with block prints.
