Pakuranga Choral presents Romantic gem
The “Saint Cecilia Mass” of French composer Charles Gounod is one of his most popular choral works. Its warm and sumptuous writing is a forerunner to later composers such as Faure and Debussy. Pakuranga Choral presents this Romantic period gem as its mid-winter concert. Featuring a trio of fine young soloists – Antonia Brightwell, Ivan Zhang, and Blake Scanlen – the concert is accompanied by Michael Bell and conducted by David Hamilton. As a special feature, the choir is joined by South Auckland Choral in a another ‘choral spectacular’ in this anniversary year for Pakuranga Choral. The concert is rounded out with music by Haydn, Goodall, Hamilton, and Ritchie, with piano solos from James Liu. Sunday 25th August at 2.30pm, All Saints Church Howick. Tickets available at the door.
